It was recently revealed that Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan is hosting a minimum $1,000 per plate fundraiser for long-time supporter Representative Linda Chapa LaVia. The August 19th fundraiser comes on the heels of another fundraiser held for Chapa LaVia by Illinois House Majority Leader and Madigan loyalist Barbara Flynn Currie. By law, the Aurora Mayoral Race is intended to be a non-partisan election, but given Madigan's financial support of Chapa LaVia, we are concerned that Madigan is attempting to buy the local Mayoral election.
A brighter future for Aurora requires more growth, life and safety. That’s why Illinois’ second largest community needs someone like Rick Guzman at the helm. Rick has the executive experience, the gift for innovation and the know-how to build on our city’s progress. Watch Rick talk about why he’s in the race for mayor.
WHY I BELIEVE SUPPORTING A $30+ MILLION PRIVATE INVESTMENT FOR A DOWNTOWN ARTS CENTER IS A GOOD IDEA.
I am proud to stand with the majority of our community leaders and stakeholders, which include Mayor Weisner and the overwhelming majority of our City Council to support this rare opportunity for such an impactful project. I am proud of the 9+ months that I’ve spent quarterbacking this project for the City.
